Tribal Education Reform
Systemic Reform & Teacher Support for Tribal Schools in Maharashtra
About the Partnership

A collaboration between the Tribal Development Department (TDD), Maharashtra & Leadership For Equity, the project aims to improve the learning outcomes & well-being of 4.5 lakh+ students across Maharashtra’s tribal schools.

Our two-part intervention comprises establishing an Education Resource Cell (ERC) in tribal schools to support the professional development of officers and teachers along with building a strong cadre of school-level teacher mentors.
Our Approach
The project will be reaching out to three key target groups - teachers, officers and students with specific needs-based support. First, our work will focus on restructuring the current department to form education resource cells (ERCs) across 30 tribal pockets in Maharashtra which will provide a comprehensive systematic support structure for teachers and schools.
Second, the project will work towards building the capacity of 300+ education officers who are part of this ERCs and will create a teacher support system at a school level which will impact 1500+ teacher mentors.
