Teacher Training Needs Analysis: Chhattisgarh
This report presents a Teacher Needs Analysis (TNA) conducted in the Durg and Raipur districts of Chhattisgarh, India. The study, a collaborative effort between Leadership For Equity (LFE) and Jan Gyanodaya Vikas Samiti (JGVS), aimed to identify the training needs of teachers to enhance their professional development and, ultimately, improve student learning outcomes.
Key Learnings
This report was conducted to understand the needs of teachers regarding training content and methods.
The key learnings from this report are:
50% of teachers stated they want in-person training and find it more comfortable compared to other formats.
58% of teachers want most training programs to be conducted in July-September, aligning with the beginning of the academic year.
80% of primary school teachers preferred to get training in Maths and 79% of teachers preferred to get training in English, indicating subject-specific needs.
68% of teachers want to learn activity-based teaching to enhance student engagement and create better learning opportunities.
65% of teachers want on-ground classroom support after training, emphasizing the need for practical application and reinforcement.
